Man Arrested in Suspicion of Killing Wife's Parents [UPDATED]

The victims had traveled from China to visit their daughter and grandchildren.

WEST COVINA, CA - A West Covina man was jailed Thursday on suspicion of murdering his wife's parents, who had traveled from China to visit their daughter and grandchildren.

Officers went to the family's condominium in the 1300 block East Oahu about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday on a report of several gunshots "and the sounds of children screaming," West Covina police Officer Rudy Lopez said.

Officers encountered the suspect, who surrendered without further incident, and found the victims dead of gunshot wounds and three youngsters -- ages 3, 6, and 8 -- hiding in a bathroom, he said.

Aiping Diao and his wife Shu Zhang, both 60, had been visiting their daughter and her family, Lopez said.

Caminero Wang, 43, of West Covina, was booked on suspicion of murder and held on $2 million bail, with arraignment expected Friday at the Pomona courthouse.
