Covina Barricade Suspect In Custody: LASD

Details are still sketchy, though authorities say no injuries were reported during the incident.

COVINA, CA — An armed man held off sheriff's deputies from inside a home in Covina for close to two hours Sunday, and gunfire was reported, but he was arrested and deputies said no one was injured.

With details still sketchy, shots were fired at some point during the incident, reported the sheriff's Special Enforcement Bureau.

No injuries were reported and no one was transported to an area hospital, according to a county fire department dispatcher.

The incident began a little before 11:15 a.m. in the 4600 block of Roxburgh Avenue, said Deputy Lisa Jansen of the Sheriff's Information Bureau.

At some point a sheriff's Special Weapons Team was called out to the scene and surrounding homes were evacuated, Jansen said.

The suspect was taken into custody a little before 1 p.m., the sheriff's Special Enforcement Bureau reported.
