COVINA, CA - The coroner's office Wednesday released the name of an 89- year-old woman who died in a Covina house fire that may have been deliberately set.
The fire was reported just after 2 p.m. Friday in the 20900 block of East Mesarica Road. Firefighters discovered Helen Slater Lambert's charred remains in a bedroom, according to the sheriff's department and Assistant Coroner Chief Ed Winter.
Deputy Juanita Navarro-Suarez said Wednesday afternoon that a family member who lived with the victim "was being cooperative" with detectives investigating the case, which she said was still being investigated as a possible arson.
