Kaiser Permanente Baldwin Park Awards Community Benefit Grants
San Gabriel Valley organizations honored for their services and programs in the community
Kaiser Permanente Baldwin Park Medical Center held a Community Benefit Partner Reception at the Hurst Ranch Historical Center in West Covina to award and recognize 31 local nonprofit organizations from the San Gabriel Valley with community benefit grants totaling nearly $300,000.
“Kaiser Permanente is driven by our social mission to improve the health and well-being of the communities in which we serve,” says Maggie Pierce, Senior Vice President and Area Manager, Kaiser Permanente Baldwin Park Medical Center. “Through partnerships with local agencies and our community benefit grant-giving program we can address some of the health and social issues facing our communities. We remain strong in our commitment to building healthy environments and are honored to work with each of these organizations.”
Funding to organizations is based on the findings from a community health needs assessment conducted in 2016 which included data research as well as community consultation with local community leaders and residents. The four prioritized health needs include access to health care, economic security, mental and behavioral health, and healthy eating and active living.
