Local students receive backpacks and school supplies donated by Kaiser Permanente Baldwin Park employees and physicians

Helping local students succeed in school

Thanks to the efforts of physicians and employees from the Kaiser Permanente Baldwin Park Medical Center, local school students in Baldwin Park and West Covina received backpacks and school supplies to start the new school year. The facility recently hosted its Annual Backpack and School Supply Donation Campaign. More than 600 backpacks were collected. Nearly 30 departments participated in the campaign.

“We are incredibly indebted to the generous medical personnel and staff of Kaiser Permanente Baldwin Park for stepping up on behalf of our students,” says Froilan N. Mendoza, Superintendent, Baldwin Park Unified School District.

“We are very fortunate to have Kaiser Permanente Baldwin Park as a partner to support our students in need. The excitement and look on the children’s faces as they received their brand knew backpack full of school supplies, warms your heart. We appreciate the employees and volunteers who participated in this worthwhile service project,” says Charles D. Hinman, Superintendent, West Covina Unified School District.

This is the eighth year that Kaiser Permanente has supported the Baldwin Park School District and the fourth year for the West Covina Unified School District.

“We were excited to team up once again with Baldwin Park and West Covina Unified School Districts to help students get a fresh start to the school year,” says Maggie Pierce, Senior Vice President and Area Manager, Kaiser Permanente Baldwin Park Medical Center. “These are challenging economic times for everyone. Thanks to the backpack and school supply donations from staff, children will receive the tools they need to do their best in school.”
