Man Killed Leaving E. Valinda Party ID'd as Johnny Elizalde
Police said the victim was leaving a party Saturday when an unknown gunman approached, shot and killed him.

WEST COVINA, CA — Authorities have identified the man fatally shot as he was leaving a party in unincorporated East Valinda, near West Covina.
The coroner’s office identified him as Johnny Elizalde, 27, of La Puente.
Elizalde and one other person were leaving the party in the 400 block of Shipman Avenue around 2:48 a.m. Saturday when an unknown suspect approached, pulled out a handgun and fired, striking Elizalde in the upper torso, according to Deputy Guillermina Saldana of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

Elizalde was pronounced dead at the scene.
The second shooting victim, struck in the upper and lower torso, was transported in critical condition to an area hospital, Saldana said.
