Man Killed Outside Workplace in El Monte ID'd

Higinio Jimenez-Gonzalez, 22, of El Monte was killed in the shooting involving a love triangle.

SOUTH EL MONTE, CA - Authorities identified a man who was killed outside his South El Monte workplace by another man who called him out and gunned him down.

The shooting, apparently involving a love triangle, occurred about 8:25 a.m. Monday outside Baby Blue Fashion Inc. in the 9600 block of Alpaca Street, authorities said.

Higinio Jimenez-Gonzalez, 22, of El Monte died at the scene, coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter said.

Xotoy Santos, 31, of South El Monte was booked at the Temple Station on suspicion of murder and was being held without bail pending arraignment at the Rio Hondo courthouse in El Monte on Wednesday.

According to a sheriff's statement, Santos "rode a bicycle to the business (Monday) morning and had asked for the victim to come outside of the business."

When Jimenez-Gonzalez did so, the suspect allegedly pulled out a revolver and shot him multiple times, according to sheriff's investigators, who said the weapon was recovered at the scene.

Several male co-workers of the victim heard the gunshots, came outside, wrestled the suspect to the ground and held him until deputies arrived.

Sheriff's Lt. Steve Jauch told the Los Angeles Times that it was rumored that a female co-worker and the victim had been dating. According to the sheriff's statement, the woman "has children in common with the suspect."
