New Trees To Spruce Up Town
Grant money provided by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.

The Board of Supervisors Tuesday allocated more than $1.9 million in grants for planting trees in eastern Los Angeles County.
Baldwin Park will be one of the cities to receive the trees a a result of the grant.
The money will go to a dozen projects in the 1st Supervisorial District, represented by Supervisor Gloria Molina, including in El Monte, Huntington Park, Monterey Park, Pomona, Rosemead, Walnut and West Covina.
The three biggest grants are to the Los Angeles Conservation Corps for $400,000, nearly $325,000 for Amigos de los Rios and roughly $300,000 to North East Trees.
The funding is provided through property tax assessments authorized by the Safe Neighborhood Parks Proposition. The proposition, approved by voters in 1996, sets aside revenue for the acquisition, restoration and rehabilitation of property for parks, recreation and natural habitats.
