Olive Middle School Celebrates 50 Years Of Inspiring Student Success

Generations of students and educators from Olive Middle gathered to celebrate the school's 50th-anniversary celebration.

Past and present educators, students, principals and community members shared a day of joy and remembrance during Olive Middle School’s 50th-anniversary celebration.

Olive Middle School teachers and alumni spoke about the school’s legacy in preparing students to be civic and engaged leaders.

“This was an incredible way for everyone to come together and share memories about a school that means so much to each of us,” Olive Principal Eric Lopez said. “I want to thank everyone in the community who celebrated Olive Middle School and the great students it produces.”

During the event on Oct. 26, the school unveiled a mural, designed by Baldwin Park Adult and Community Education Vice Principal Vanessa Arevalo, that depicts the school’s Lancer mascot with the years 1968 to 2018.

Students, teachers and Olive administrators took turns painting the mural with the school’s blue and yellow colors.

At Olive Middle School, students can continue their education in the District’s Dual Language program, pursue studies in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), and push their academic limits in the Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program.

This is the first year that Olive Middle School has reached a 1:1 device-to-student ratio, with each student receiving a Chromebook laptop for the 2019-20 school year.
