Suspected Drunk Driver Downs Power Pole in Baldwin Park

A man arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated off I-10 at the Francisquito Avenue offramp slammed into a power pole.

BALDWIN PARK, CA — A suspected drunk driver slammed into an electrical power pole, crashing it down in lanes early Tuesday morning.

The driver reportedly struck the pole while heading eastbound I-10 in Baldwin Park, according to the California Highway Patrol.

"The man knocked down the electrical pole, prompting authorities to block the exit due to live wires in the roadway," Villalobos said. "A Southern California Edison crew was dispatched to the scene to fix the pole."

Officers arrested the suspect on suspicion of drunk driving.

The crash was reported just before 3:30 a.m. on the Francisquito Avenue offramp, said Calfornia Highway Patrol Officer Francisco Villalobos.

There was no word of power outages from the crash.
