Understood.org Launches a New Campaign #BeUnderstood

October is LD, ADHD and Dyslexia Awareness Months and Understood.org has the information, strategies and expert insights you need to succeed

Understood.org is a nonprofit organization that offers free online resources for parents of children with learning and attention issues (like ADHD or dyslexia). Parents want the best for their children. We do, too. For the first time ever, 15 nonprofit organizations have joined forces to support parents of the one in five children with learning and attention issues throughout their journey.

With the right support, parents can help children unlock their strengths and reach their full potential. With state-of-the-art technology, personalized resources, free daily access to experts, a secure online community, practical tips and more, Understood aims to be that support.
We’ve launched the #BeUnderstood campaign to kick off Learning Disabilities (LD) Awareness Month in October and to raise awareness about the 1 in 5 kids with learning and attention issues. We’re looking for people who have a story to tell about their own learning and attention issues, can share a story about their child/family member, or have a friend who is dealing with learning and attention issues.
Sometimes parents mistakenly think their children are just being lazy and should try harder, and that it’s a phase their children will outgrow. The reality is, in many cases, it might be an unidentified learning and attention issue. In the U.S., 1 in 5 children struggle with brain-based learning and attention issues that affect reading, writing, math, focus and organization. These issues are a lot more common than most people think, and while learning and attention issues may not be as visible as other health issues, they’re just as real.
At Understood.org you can find so many resources to help with learning and attention disabilities. Some of the resources available include an overview of different kinds of learning disabilities surprising facts about learning and attentions issues, signs and symptoms, types of issues, treatments and approaches, understanding your child’s challenges, and personal stories.
Raising a child with learning and attention issues is a journey. And it’s one that’s full of ups and downs, successes and challenges, questions and decisions. That’s why this October, as we celebrate LD, ADHD and Dyslexia Awareness Months, we’re launching a special campaign to help you and your child #BeUnderstood.
We’ve got the information, strategies and expert insights you need at every stage of your unique journey. The path to understanding starts here!
