Virtual School, Real-World Celebrations in San Gabriel
More than 130 local students celebrated their graduation this week from online charter high school California Virtual Academy@ Los Angeles!

Graduation is a special time for high school students, as their hard work and dedication finally pay off with diplomas and hugs.
In San Gabriel, a graduation ceremony on June 10 had an extra layer of excitement, as students who earned their diplomas through the full-time, tuition-free, online charter school California Virtual Academy@ Los Angeles logged off for the last time and met classmates and teachers in person.
As more than 130 students gathered at the San Gabriel Mission Playhouse for two ceremonies with their families and friends, many met each other for the first time outside of their virtual classrooms.
After graduation, these students will be attending universities and colleges across the country and state, including Thomas Edison State College, California State University Northridge, Azusa Pacific University, Gnomon School of Visual Effects, Art Institute of Los Angeles, UCLA, Mount St. Mary’s University, Le Cordon Bleu, Boston University and The New York Film Academy. Congratulations to all of this year’s graduates!
At California Virtual Academy@ Los Angeles, California-credentialed teachers work with each student through an interactive digital learning platform to create an individualized plan, focused on his or her unique learning needs, goals, and interests.
