Woman Killed in Interstate 10 Crash is Identified

A woman killed when the pickup truck she was driving overturned in a two-vehicle crash on the 10 Freeway in El Monte.

The coroner's office today identified a woman killed when the pickup truck she was driving overturned in a two-vehicle crash on the San Bernardino (10) Freeway in El Monte.

She was Joann Palomares, 50, of Alhambra, said coroner's Lt. Joe Bale.

The crash on the westbound freeway at Durfee Avenue was reported to the CHP at 6:45 a.m. Sunday and involved a gray 1998 Ford F-150 pickup truck and a 2007 Mazda 6.

"There was reckless driving (by the woman) prior to the collision," said California Highway Patrol Officer Ed Jacobs.

At one point, Jacobs said, the pickup truck hit the center divider, overturned and Palomares, the vehicle's only occupant, was ejected.
