10 Freeway Lane Closures Start Aug. 17 Between Beaumont And Calimesa: Caltrans

BEAUMONT, CA — Caltrans announced on Friday there will be alternating lane closures on the 10 Freeway between Beaumont and Calimesa as construction crews begin a weeklong operation starting Aug. 17, according to Caltrans.

The work will take place Monday through Thursday from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. and Friday from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. at Oak Valley Parkway in Beaumont up to County Line Road in Calimesa, according to Caltrans.

The alternating lane closures will be in effect throughout the entire project zone on northbound and southbound lanes of the 10 Freeway.

The construction work is part of a $146 million pavement rehabilitation broadband and safety project on the 10 Freeway in Riverside County from the San Bernardino County line in Calimesa to Pennsylvania Avenue in Beaumont.

Caltrans said the project will improve road conditions and motorist safety, install fiber optic cables, improve broadband connectivity and upgrade curb ramps to Americans with Disability Act standards.

Additional improvements include upgraded guardrails and median barriers, and bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure as part of its Complete Streets program.

Caltrans advised motorists to be aware there will be temporary striping in the construction zones, which will shift traffic to the outside lanes.

Pedestrians will also be impacted as overcrossings on Singleton Road, Brookside Avenue, San Timoteo Canyon Road and Oak Valley Parkway will be permanently closed to pedestrians during construction.

Caltrans said construction signs have been placed in the project zone to make motorists aware of crews in the area.

Weather permitted, the project is expected to be complete by Fall 2029.
