2-Year-Old Nearly Drowns In RivCo Family's Backyard Pool

The boy was airlifted for emergency care.

MORENO VALLEY, CA — A 2-year-old remains hospitalized after he nearly drowned earlier this month in his family’s swimming pool in Moreno Valley, according to reports.

The incident occurred on March 13 and required the boy to be airlifted for emergency care, according to a GoFundMe started to collect donations for medical bills, the emergency flight and other expenses.

Ezequiel, the youngest of six children, wandered into the backyard pool, his mother, Rosa Agustin, told KTLA, noting she was traveling in Mexico when the accident occurred.

The GoFundMe warned parents that “accidents like this happen in the blink of an eye.”

“Please take a moment to check your pool fences, make sure alarms are working, and never leave a child unattended near water — not even for a second,” the GoFundMe page said. “Our hope is that by sharing Ezequiel’s story, we can help prevent another family from experiencing this kind of pain."
