4 People Arrested In Cabazon Caper

The investigation led deputies to multiple Cabazon sites, but arrests were eventually made.

CABAZON, CA — A stolen construction vehicle that contained more than $200,000 worth of tools and equipment has been found, and four Cabazon residents were arrested in connection with the heist, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

The investigation began around 9 a.m. Monday when deputies were called out to a Cabazon construction site in the 13000 block of Malki Road regarding a stolen vehicle. The rig contained equipment for a power line project in the area, the sheriff's department reported.

A search turned up the vehicle in the 15000 block of Elm Street, but the tools and equipment were gone. The investigation continued, and around 2 p.m. deputies got word that the stolen items might be at a property in the 52000 block of Esperanza Avenue, the sheriff's department said.

Not only did deputies find the swiped tools and equipment, they also discovered another stolen vehicle, items from previous thefts, narcotics, and suspects, according to the sheriff's department.

The following Cabazon residents were arrested for possession of stolen property: Sean Johnson, 35, Maurine Evans, 28, and Daniel Hernandez, 28. Karrie Collins, 43, was also arrested on suspicion of narcotics possession, the sheriff's department reported.
