55 MPH Wind Gusts Forecast Thursday In Pass Area, NWS Issues Advisory

West winds of 20 to 30 mph, with gusts to 55 mph are forecast Thursday, according to the NWS.

BANNING, CA — The National Weather Service issued a Thursday wind advisory for the Pass Area that urged motorists to use extra caution when driving amid blustery conditions, especially if traveling in a high-profile vehicle.

The NWS advisory is in place from 1 p.m. to midnight for the San Gorgonio Pass Area near Banning; Cabazon; Desert Hot Springs; Riverside County and San Diego mountain areas; as well as San Diego County desert areas.

West winds of 20 to 30 mph, with gusts to 55 mph are forecast, according to the NWS.

"Gusty winds could blow unsecured objects around. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Winds and blowing dust may be hazardous to drivers on the roads. Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high-profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects," the NWS reported.

Winds will quickly diminish tonight and briefly turn offshore Friday morning, according to the agency.

Cool conditions will prevail Thursday, but a slight warming trend is on tap for the weekend, with highs expected in the low to mid-80s in the Pass Area, according to the NWS forecast.
