58-Year-Old Beaumont Man Dies In Custody Of San Bernardino County Sheriff's Dept.
The jail death follows a similar one just days earlier.
RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA — A 58-year-old Beaumont man died in the jail custody of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, just days after a 43-year-old woman died at the same lockup.
The death of inmate Adam Alex Alvidrez occurred at approximately 2:59 p.m. Saturday at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga.
Alvidrez was experiencing a medical emergency, so a deputy and a facility nurse who were nearby immediately responded to his housing unit and began rendering aid to him, according to the sheriff's department.

Despite the efforts, Alvidrez died at the scene.

Alvidrez was originally booked into the county jail on Oct. 9 by the Twin Peaks Sheriff's Station. He was suspected of battery and was subsequently charged. Details about the case against him were unavailable.
Alvidrez's death follows a Feb. 16 incident at the same jail. Just before 11 a.m. that day, deputies at the lockup were alerted that 43-year-old inmate Katie Sarah Jackson of Fontana was suffering a medical emergency.
Life-saving measures were performed, but Jackson was pronounced dead at the scene.
Jackson had been jailed for suspected elder abuse stemming from her May 30, 2024, arrest by the Fontana Police Department.
The sheriff's department did not release details about possible causes of death in either case but said the agency's homicide detail was investigating both. The county coroner is expected to rule on the causes and manner of the deaths.
