We probably won’t do this regularly, but we’d like to include an update to our last article about Cherry Valley strawberries. When we visited last week, we had the honor of meeting with the farm’s owner. We mentioned a quote from him in the article we published Friday, but we had also asked him for more information about his vision for fresh produce. He was kind enough to get back to us, though not in time for our original publication. Below is what he had to say about his farms.
“I want to promote fresh fruit and healthy living. The best tasting fruits are picked ripe that same day, in the morning. Unfortunately, the best tasting fruits do not last more than a few days. If you can afford it, try to make fresh fruits and vegetables from your own garden your first choice, local friends/neighbors your second choice, grocery stores your third choice, and processed foods your last choice.
We’re all creatures of habit, and taste is a relative sensory experience. Once you acclimate to healthy living, the junk food starts to taste like junk! You can also trade fruits with your neighbor! Habits, good and bad, generally take 21 days to form.
Next April we will have u-pick blueberries [in the pass area]. We are losing money this year, our location is rural, but it's been fun; and we've learned a lot about organic growing!
My name is Young Kwun.

We’d like to thank Mr. Kwun for his excellent advice. His perspective is what motivates us to produce this blog.
See you Friday!
