Abandoned Banning Motel Catches Fire, Again
A vacant hotel in Banning, off the I-10 freeway, caught fire early Monday morning, incinerating at least two rooms of the empty structure.

BANNING, CA — A fire broke out at the abandoned OYÓ hotel Monday morning, damaging at least two rooms of the vacant building, Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department reported.
The non-injury blaze was reported just before 4 a.m. in the 1200 block of West Ramsey Street, near 12th Street, according to the department.
Multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered smoke rising from the vacant structure. Firefighters worked their way into the building and fully contained the flames by 4:35 a.m., officials said.

The fire was extinguished a short time later, and the cause of the blaze was under investigation.
The hotel building has housed both the Hacienda Inn & Suites, the Ace Hotel and was last known as the Oyo Hotel before going vacant in late 2019.

That same building caught fire shortly after it was vacated, according to a previous Patch report.
