Two Confirmed Dead in Cherry Valley Shooting, SWAT Cleared [UPDATE]

UPDATE 3:20 P.M. — Riverside County sheriff's officials confirm that two people were found dead inside a Cherry Valley mobile home park Saturday afternoon following a massive law enforcement response to the community. The identities and genders of the two were not immediately available.

The SWAT team was spotted leaving the location shortly before 3 p.m., and Cherry Valley Boulevard was reopened to through traffic. However, Royal Coach Mobile Home Park remained closed for several hours. (Scroll for photos and video interviews with the sheriff's department.)

It all started around 10:45 a.m., when sheriff's officials say that they received a call in the 39000 block of Cherry Valley Boulevard, near Beaumont High School, around 10:45 a.m. Saturday.

"The call came in as a shooting and possible homicide," sheriff's Dep. Mike Vasquez said.

Shortly thereafter, the suspected shooter apparently barricaded his or herself inside an area home. A helicopter circled the area for several hours Saturday afternoon. Patch spotted a SWAT team roll into the area around 11:30 a.m.

Possible suspect or victim information was not immediately available.

Earlier in the day, the incident was reported as an active shooter incident, but the sheriff's department later clarified that the shooter was not on the loose.

"Not Active Shooter. Inv Shooting/Possible Homicide. Suspect believed to be barricaded in home. More details to follow," sheriff's officials tweeted around noon.

By 11:40 a.m., police had created a perimeter to extend around Cherry Valley Boulevard, in between Nancy and Beaumont Avenue and a helicopter was circling the area.
