Amazon is adding a 5-story, 4-million-sq.-ft. warehouse to its more than 17.9 million square feet of Southern California warehouse space.

ONTARIO, CA — A 5-story, 4.1-million-square-foot warehouse being built in the Inland Empire will be Amazon's biggest warehouse in both Southern California, and the world, the Press-Enterprise reported Thursday.

When the warehouse and automation building located in Southwest Ontario is complete, it will be 5 stories tall and big enough to fit the whole of Disney California Adventure inside with room to spare, they say.

The project — just over a year in the making — adds to the overwhelming number of warehouses in the Inland Empire, according to a recent study published by Earthjustice.org.
The report showed that Southern California is home to over 3,300 large-scale warehouse distribution centers at least 100,000 square feet in size. Ontario tops the region with the most warehouses: 289 facilities that meet that size criteria. Fontana is second to Ontario in the number of large-scale warehouses, with 140 in operation, according to that report.
