REDLANDS, CA — A former water-polo coach who worked in the Redlands Unified School District has been released from custody after being arrested last week on suspicion of sex with a 15-year-old girl.
Luke Anthony Quintana, 21, of Redlands, was arrested on Wednesday, April 29, on suspicion of oral copulation with a minor child, sexual penetration of a child under 18, and unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor who was more than three years younger than himself, jail records show.
He was released from custody the day after his arrest, and, as of Tuesday morning, formal charges against him were pending.
Quintana allegedly met the girl in October 2025 at a water polo match at Citrus Valley High School in Redlands, according to the Redlands Police Department.
"The two later communicated through a social media app and eventually met off campus in February 2026, during which a sexual encounter occurred," police allege.
A month later, the girl reported the relationship to Redlands police.
At the time of the alleged sexual encounter, Quintana was 20 years old.
During the investigation into the allegations, the Redlands Unified School District cooperated with detectives, police said.
