BEAUMONT, CA — A new city manager took the helm in Beaumont this week.
Christopher Boatman began working for the city Monday. He will be publicly sworn in at the June 2 City Council meeting.
He replaces City Manager Elizabeth Gibbs, who received a warm sendoff before her Dec. 1 departure. Gustavo Romo was appointed as Interim City Manager at the time.
Following an extensive recruitment process, Boatman was selected for the permanent role.
As City Manager, Boatman is overseeing all city departments to ensure operations align with City Council priorities and the needs of the community.
“On behalf of the City Council, we are honored to welcome Mr. Boatman as Beaumont’s new City Manager,” said Mayor Jessica Voigt. “As a dedicated public servant, his leadership experience and integrity will provide valuable guidance as Beaumont continues its long-term growth and success.”
Boatman brings nearly 20 years of public-sector experience, most recently serving as the Assistant City Manager for the City of Redlands.
Throughout his career, he has overseen major capital and community projects, including a $16 million City Hall renovation, an $85 million police station, a 17-acre sports park, and approximately $100 million in real estate transactions since 2018, according to his bio.
“I'm honored and incredibly excited to be selected as Beaumont's new City Manager,” Boatman said. “My priority is to ensure the City continues to deliver reliable, high-quality services while planning responsibly for the future. I’m committed to transparency, fiscal responsibility, and maintaining the character and quality of life that residents expect. I look forward to working closely with the City Council, staff, and community members to address challenges, support thoughtful growth, and build on the strong foundation already in place.”
Boatman holds a Master of Public Administration from California State University, San Bernardino, and a Bachelor of Arts in Business and History from the University of California, Riverside.
