BEAUMONT, CA — As families struggle under the weight of inflation and soaring gas prices, the Beaumont Unified School District and the neighboring Banning Unified School District are offering a way to save money with a free breakfast and lunch program from early June to the
end of July.

Anyone 18 years old and younger looking to participate may receive a hot meal during scheduled breakfast and lunch hours at one of several locations in Beaumont, Banning, and Calimesa.

"Persons over the age of 18 and enrolled in a school program for persons with disabilities may also participate, according to the USDA," according to the districts.

There is no registration or identification required.

The free meal service is made possible in part by Beaumont USD's partnership with The Seamless Summer Feeding Option, a federal- and state-funded program.

Beaumont USD Assistant Director of Child Nutrition Services Stephanie Jarvis spoke on the program and why it matters.

“We expect a lot of new families, including higher income households, participating this year,” Jarvis said. “This program is a smart way to save money, not to mention, save some time not having to meal-prep."
