BANNING, CA — A 21-year-old man was shot and killed on a Banning street Sunday night, drawing a huge emergency response and leading to closed roadways, officials say.
David Hernandez-Enriques, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene in the 600 block of W. Ramsey Street, according to Chief of Police Vincent Avila. His name was released after notification of his next of kin.
Just before 11 p.m., Banning Police Officers were dispatched to the area of 6th Street and Ramsey Street regarding a report of a shooting, Avila said.
"Upon arrival, officers located an adult male in the 600 block of W. Ramsey Street suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite lifesaving efforts, the victim, later identified as Hernandez-Enriques, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
There are no suspects named in the shooting, and the investigation is active and ongoing.
"The Banning Police Department Detective Bureau is actively investigating this incident," Avila stated. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
