They have been charged with grand theft and conspiracy — both felonies.

The alleged theft occurred at about 11 a.m. June 5 in the 11000 block of Wiley Street.

A victim was doing landscaping work at the location when a silver Honda Accord pulled alongside his truck. The two Accord occupants, later identified as Perez and Sanchez-Vega, stole more than $1,200 worth of landscaping equipment from the truck, according to the sheriff's department.

"Surveillance footage captured the incident and showed a Hispanic male driving the Honda while a front-seat passenger exited the vehicle and removed the equipment," the sheriff's department reported.

Perez was ultimately identified as the Honda owner. The Riverside County Sheriff's Department located the vehicle and detained Perez and the passenger, Sanchez-Vega.

"Detectives ultimately identified Perez and Sanchez-Vega as the suspects in the theft of the landscaping equipment," according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.
