BANNING, CA — The Banning Police Department has released the results of its weekend DUI checkpoint.
The checkpoint was held from 6 p.m. Friday, June 5, to 1:30 a.m. Saturday, June 6, in the 5400 block of W. Ramsey Street.
During that time, police stopped 1,220 vehicles.
The operation yielded six arrests (five people were taken into custody for driving on a suspended license due to DUI, and one person was arrested on felony warrants), according to the Banning Police Department.
Additionally, 29 drivers were cited for operating a vehicle without a valid license.
More DUI checkpoints are planned throughout 2026, with dates and locations to be determined, Banning PD reported.
Funding for the checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
