ID Released On Redlands Pedestrian Who Was Struck, Killed By Motorist

The 56-year-old driver said he did not see the victim and told police he pulled over after he felt some sort of impact.

REDLANDS, CA — A pedestrian who was struck and killed by a vehicle in Redlands last week has been identified by the coroner as a local resident.

Virginia Yglesias, 38, of Redlands, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash that was reported at approximately 10:03 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Orange Street and Pioneer Avenue.

According to the Redlands Police Department, the woman was walking south on Orange Street. At the same time, the driver of a small pickup truck was towing a trailer and heading in the same direction on the road.

The 56-year-old driver said he did not see the victim and told police he pulled over on Pioneer Avenue after he felt some sort of impact.

"When he inspected his vehicle and discovered blood on the trailer, he called 911," according to police.

The driver had no indication of impairment, police said, but the incident is still under investigation by the Redlands Police Department Traffic Unit.
