BANNING, CA — A nearly $5 million construction project aimed at improving multiple bridges connected to the 10 Freeway in Riverside County, including Banning and Beaumont, is expected to be completed next month, Caltrans announced on Tuesday.
Construction crews are still currently working on the enhancements, which includes preventive maintenance, as well as furnishing polyester concrete overlay, replacing joint seals, and replacing asphalt on 11 bridges connected to the Interstate 10.
Construction on the project began in October 2025, according to Caltrans.
Westbound traffic on the 10 Freeway at Hargrave Street in Banning was reduced to one land Monday and Tuesday as construction crews worked but lanes were expected to be reopened on Wednesday. All ramps remained open.
Additional cities and places where the bridge work will be completed include Cabazon, Whitewater, North Palm Springs, and Thousand Palms.
