Authorities said when Goforth's friend returned to the vehicle, Goforth was not there.

Authorities said Goforth was searched for over an extensive area but was not located, and she was at risk due to the severe heat, and the possibility she had no water.

Goforth was found dead around 12:3o p.m. on Thursday in a remote desert area, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

The circumstances surrounding Goforth's death are under investigation.
