Home Remodeling Fraud In IE, More Victims Sought: Sheriff's Department

LAKE ARROWHEAD, CA — A local contractor was arrested Thursday after authorities say she pocketed tens of thousands of dollars for home renovation projects she never performed, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

Victoria A. Rogers, 58, of Lake Arrowhead, was booked into the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga on nine felony and misdemeanor charges, including theft by false pretenses, grand theft, and diversion of construction funds.

The investigation began after a Lake Arrowhead homeowner reported hiring Rogers, owner of "Coronado by Design," in October 2024 to remodel a kitchen and three bathrooms. Authorities said the victim wrote an upfront check for $67,500 to initiate the project.

Over the following year, Rogers offered repeated excuses for delays while performing no work on the property, investigators said. When the victim requested a full refund in November 2025, Rogers stopped communicating and kept the money.

Detectives found that Rogers intentionally failed to allocate the funds toward construction materials or labor. Further investigation revealed additional victims who suffered thousands of dollars in losses under similar circumstances.

Sheriff's officials believe there may be other victims who have not yet come forward.
