Brush Fire Prompts Lane, Ramp Closures On 60 Freeway Through Badlands

The non-injury fire was reported at 1:32 p.m., according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

MORENO VALLEY, CA — A brush fire erupted Monday afternoon alongside eastbound state Route 60 at Gilman Springs Road in Moreno Valley and was causing traffic delays in the area known as the Badlands.

The non-injury fire was reported at 1:32 p.m., according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

At last report, the fire had scorched about 2 acres and prompted lane and ramp closures along the freeway.

California Highway Patrol officers shut down the dedicated eastbound truck lane and the regular traffic slow lane, leaving only the eastbound fast lane open, as a public safety precaution through the Badlands.

The westbound side of the freeway wasn't impacted.

Two Cal Fire air tankers were initially summoned.

The cause of the fire wasn't immediately known.
