BEAUMONT, CA — Two motorists were injured, one seriously, in a head-on wreck just east of Moreno Valley Monday.
The collision was reported at 4:43 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Alessandro Boulevard and Gilman Springs Road, roughly a half-mile south of the Moreno Valley (60) Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The agency, which initially reported the incident as a fatality, said a sedan and pickup truck impacted head-on at an undetermined speed.
Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department crews reached the location, and one motorist was quickly pulled from the wreckage with major injuries, while the other was extricated more than 20 minutes later, suffering minor injuries.
Both were taken to Riverside University Medical Center in Moreno Valley in stable condition, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department spokesperson Tawny Cabral.
The intersection was partially shut down because of the crash, which the CHP was investigating.
