Calling All Athletes Ages 50 And Older: 'Oldlympics' Competition Coming To Riverside County

Participants can compete in up to 20 different events across the region.

SAN JACINTO, CA — Registration is open for the 41st annual "Oldlympics," a three-week series of athletic and recreational competitions in Riverside County for people ages 50 and older.

Organized by the Valley-Wide Recreation and Park District, the games will run from Sept. 15 to Oct. 2.

Participants can compete in up to 20 different events across Hemet and San Jacinto, including bench press, billiards, bingo, bowling, chair volleyball, cribbage, a "Fun-tathlon," golf, hand and foot, horseshoes, pickleball, pinochle, Scrabble, shuffleboard, swimming, table tennis, tennis, Texas Hold 'em, tournament blackjack, and track and field.

The games will conclude with an awards banquet on Oct. 6 at the Michael Paul Gymnasium at Larry Minor Regional Park, 901 W. Esplanade Ave., San Jacinto.

Registration fees range from $5 for a single event to $23 for unlimited events. Entry includes a commemorative T-shirt.

In-person registration is available at the Sport Center, 901 W. Esplanade Ave. in San Jacinto, or the Valle Vista Community Center, 43935 E. Acacia Ave. in Hemet.
