The crash occurred around 7 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of North Indian Canyon Drive and Teagarden Drive, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Preliminary investigations indicate a 61-year-old Desert Hot Springs woman was driving a silver Kia westbound on Teagarden Drive and attempting to make a left turn onto North Indian Canyon Drive. As the Kia pulled into the intersection, it crossed into the path of Cordero's southbound black motorcycle.

The motorcycle struck the left side of the Kia, ejecting Cordero onto the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Kia was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center after reporting minor injuries.

Drugs and alcohol are not suspected to be factors in the collision, police said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the CHP's Indio office. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact Officer J. Medina at 760-772-5300.
