BEAUMONT, CA — The City of Beaumont is investing in and revitalizing the downtown area by committing $250,000 through the Downtown Business Attraction and Expansion Forgivable Loan and Downtown Commercial Façade Improvement Programs, according to a recent news release.
The programs have gained significant momentum in 2026, with the Beaumont City Council approving more than $210,000 in assistance for four Downtown businesses and improvements to two commercial properties.
2026 Downtown Awards
The six awards approved in 2026 include:
Approximately 84% of all funding approved or committed through the two programs occurred in 2026. The City's most recent award, a $50,000 forgivable loan to Tuscano's Pizza and Pasta, pushed the total program commitments above the quarter-million-dollar mark.
Building Momentum Through Business Support
"The increased activity reflects a more proactive approach to connecting Downtown businesses and commercial property owners with available City resources, the release stated.
"Economic Development staff regularly engage entrepreneurs, prospective businesses and property owners to explain available programs, determine eligibility, and navigate the application process.
"Together, the programs are intended to encourage private investment while creating broader community benefits, including new and expanded businesses, job creation, increased economic activity and additional dining, shopping and entertainment options in Downtown Beaumont."
Supporting Business Attraction and Expansion
The City's Downtown Business Attraction and Expansion Loan Program provides financial assistance to advance Beaumont's business attraction, retention and expansion goals. Businesses receiving assistance must comply with the terms of their agreements and remain in operation for a specified participation period. Loans may be forgiven at the conclusion of that period when all program requirements have been satisfied.
Investing in Downtown Properties
According to the City of Beaumont's news release, the Downtown Commercial Façade Improvement Program provides assistance to eligible commercial property and business owners who may qualify for exterior improvements within the designated Downtown Revitalization area.
"The program is designed to encourage private investment, preserve and enhance Downtown properties, improve the pedestrian and shopping environment, and contribute to the overall appearance and appeal of the Downtown business district," a city spokesperson wrote.
Several projects supported through the programs have already been completed, while others are under construction or progressing toward completion.
