Authorities ID 81-Year-Old Man Struck, Killed By Vehicle In Beaumont

BEAUMONT, CA — An 81-year-old man who was struck and killed by a vehicle over the weekend in Beaumont has been identified as a Nevada resident.

David Nelson of Gardnerville was struck at approximately 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the roadway in front of a residence located at 1325 Pennsylvania Avenue, according to the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner's Bureau.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No arrests were immediately announced, and no information was released about the driver or vehicle involved. According to city of Beaumont spokesperson Julie Van Hook, the incident investigation is ongoing.

According to the online site SouthTahoeNow.com, Nelson was an active community member in Douglas County, Nevada, along with his wife, Jeanne Shizuru.

He served as a county commissioner from 2016-2020 and was a current trustee on the Gardnerville Ranchos General Improvement District. Nelson was also a member of the Rotary Club of Minden, and a local real estate agent, according to the online site.
