Bicyclist Fatally Injured In Collision With Semi At RivCo Intersection

RIVERSIDE, CA — A bicyclist was killed Thursday in a collision with a tractor-trailer that was making a turn at a Riverside intersection.

The fatality occurred at 10:25 a.m. Thursday at Indiana Avenue and Jefferson Street, just south of the Riverside 91 Freeway, according to the Riverside Police Department.

Detective Steve Espinosa said that the big rig was making an eastbound turn onto Indiana from northbound Jefferson when the "bicyclist and trailer collided."

The trucker, whose identity was not disclosed, immediately stopped.

Paramedics reached the location within minutes and attempted resuscitative measures, but the bicyclist, whose identity also wasn't provided, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The police department's Major Accident Investigation Team is handling the matter.
