BANNING, CA — Police arrested a man and found multiple firearms after they responded to reports of screaming and the sound of gunshots in Banning, police announced on Friday.
On Friday, around 11:13 p.m., police responded to reports of a man and a woman screaming and the sound of gunshots in the 1500 block of W. Westward Avenue. When officers arrived, they encountered a man at the residence and found 18 expended rifle casings, according to the Banning Police Department.
During the investigation, officers also found an AR-15-style rifle that appeared to have recently been discharged, along with several additional firearms inside the home, police said.
The man, whose identity was not released, was arrested for violation of California Penal Code 246, shooting at an inhabited dwelling or occupied vehicle, police said.
The AR-15-style rifle and additional firearms were also seized as evidence, police said.
No injuries were reported in connection with the shooting.
The incident remains under investigation.
