REDLANDS, CA — A 34-year-old Redlands resident is being held on $1 million bail after allegedly shooting a man in his front yard Saturday night, authorities said.
Maxwell David Broderick was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and booked into the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga, according to the Redlands Police Department.
Police said the shooting occurred shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday in the 900 block of Tribune Street of Redlands. The victim was standing in his front yard when Broderick pulled up in a vehicle, got out, and approached him, officials said. Broderick then shot the victim before driving away.
The victim was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. Police have not disclosed a motive for the attack.
A San Bernardino County sheriff's deputy spotted the suspect's vehicle a short time later in neighboring Highland and conducted a traffic stop. A witness positively identified Broderick, and he was taken into custody without further incident.
Authorities ask anyone with information regarding the shooting to call Redlands Police Dispatch at 909-798-7681, ext. 8. Non-emergency reports can also be submitted online or through the City of Redlands 311 mobile app.
