RIVERSIDE, CA — A collision in Riverside that claimed the life of a 26-year-old motorcyclist was triggered when the driver of a sedan pulled out of a parking lot and into the path of the rider, authorities said Wednesday.
Dylan Monterola Alas of Moreno Valley was fatally injured just after 7 p.m. Saturday on MLK Boulevard, near Angelo Street, at one of the entrances and exits to Bordwell Park, according to the Riverside Police Department.
Detective Steve Espinosa confirmed Wednesday that Alas was traveling eastbound on MLK at an unconfirmed speed when the other driver, whose identity was not disclosed, exited the park, "making a left-hand turn onto MLK."
"The two vehicles collided in the eastbound lanes," Espinosa said.
He said paramedics found Alas on the roadway in cardiac arrest, and life-saving measures were initiated. The victim was taken to Riverside Community Hospital, where he died about a half-hour later.
The driver of the car did not require medical treatment. The motorist was questioned at the scene by patrol officers but not arrested.
The department's Major Accident Investigation Team is examining the case.
Anyone with information relevant to the investigation was asked to contact the MAIT at 951-826-8720.
