BEAUMONT, CA — The city of Beaumont is taking steps toward constructing a new police headquarters estimated to cost $80 million.
On Tuesday, the City Council will weigh whether to award a $241,727 professional services agreement to Riverside-headquartered Tilden-Coil Constructors, Inc. for Phase 1 preconstruction management services on the project.
The first phase is expected to take two years to complete. The work includes project planning and administration, procurement and selection of architectural, engineering, and environmental consultants, design management, budget and schedule management, cost estimating, quality control, permitting and agency coordination, stakeholder coordination, value engineering, and coordination of police operations, security, furniture, equipment, and technology requirements, according to city documents.
The new police station is proposed on approximately 10 acres of city-owned property at the southwest corner of Beaumont Avenue and Cougar Way.
The new campus is anticipated to include a police headquarters, a secure entryway, an evidence and training building, an animal control building, an administrative support building, parking, and potentially a firearms range.
The city has yet to line up financing for the entire project. According to Beaumont's 2027–31 Five-Year Capital Improvement Plan draft, more than $71 million of the $80 million project is unfunded.
During Tuesday's discussion, council members are expected to address the totality of the Tilden-Coil Constructors contract, which calls for managing the new police campus project from start to finish. The total management contract amount is $5,437,851, though payments are expected to be rolled out in four phases aligned with the project timeline.
Tuesday's open-session City Council meeting begins at 6 p.m. at 550 E. Sixth St. See the full meeting agenda here.
