CHERRY VALLEY, CA — Riverside County is welcoming residents back to a local cultural landmark following a series of major facility upgrades.
Fifth District Supervisor Dr. Yxstian Gutierrez, alongside the Riverside County Office of Economic Development, is hosting a grand reopening ceremony for the newly renovated Edward-Dean Museum & Gardens in Cherry Valley. The event takes place at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at the museum grounds, 9401 Oak Glen Road.
"Arts and culture bring people together and help define a community's identity," Gutierrez said. "I'm thrilled to welcome residents back to the Edward-Dean Museum & Gardens to enjoy its art, history, and beautifully refreshed grounds."
The facility closed last fall for the multi-million-dollar renovation work that was paid for using federal American Rescue Plan Act funding.
The new updates introduce a suite of enhancements aimed at improving visitor access and expanding event capabilities. Inside the museum, visitors will find fresh paint and new flooring designed to create a brighter exhibition space. Through the end of 2026, the museum is also featuring a special America's 250th anniversary exhibit.
Outdoor updates include the debut of the Kay Plaza, a new venue space intended to bridge indoor and outdoor settings for weddings and community gatherings. The adjacent Kay Building has been expanded to house a modernized kitchen and larger restrooms to accommodate larger events.
Additional site improvements feature upgraded parking lots, extensive Americans with Disabilities Act accessibility compliance, refreshed landscaping and new water-quality drainage systems.
Originally established as a private enterprise in 1958 by antique dealers Edward Eberle and Dean Stout, the 16-acre property and its collections were deeded to Riverside County in 1964.
