RIVERSIDE, CA — A portion of Reche Canyon Road was slowed to a crawl Thursday morning after a Dodge Charger and another vehicle collided, blocking at least one lane of travel.
Shortly before 8 a.m., California Highway Patrol dispatch operators said a gray Toyota Solara and a gray Dodge Charger collided on the winding roadway near Reche Canyon Road and Woodson Road. The cause of the crash was not immediately released.
"The driver of the Solara said his vehicle had a small scratch while a woman inside the Dodge Charger refused to exit her vehicle," CHP dispatch said. The Solara driver was attempting to move his vehicle to the side of the road.
Tow trucks were called to the scene as commuters were forced to drive into opposing lanes to get around the crash.
Dispatch initially reported the crash as an injury accident and sent emergency crews to investigate and assist the victims.
This roadway, between Moreno Valley and Highgrove/Loma Linda, is often used as a commuter shortcut.
No other information was immediately available.
