REDLANDS, CA — Two men have been arrested in connection with an assault that left a 36-year-old man seriously injured outside a downtown Redlands bar last month, police said.

Shortly after 2:30 a.m. on Oct. 25, officers responded to a report of a man down in the street outside of a bar in the 300 block of Orange Street.

Officers found the victim lying in the roadway with significant injuries to his face and head. He was transported to a hospital and has since been released, police said.

Detectives reviewing surveillance footage determined that two suspects assaulted the victim, causing him to fall backward and lose consciousness in the street, police said.

Before leaving the scene, one of the suspects, later identified as Mariani, continued assaulting the unconscious victim and dragged him from the curb into the center of a traffic lane.

The footage also showed two vehicles swerving to avoid hitting the victim, according to police.

Police said investigators used Flock automated license plate recognition cameras, city surveillance cameras and other investigative methods to identify the two suspects.

Mariani was arrested following a traffic stop near Citrus Avenue and Lincoln Street on Nov. 5. He remains in custody at the San Bernardino County Central Jail in lieu of $1 million bail.

Henriksen was arrested following a traffic stop near Alabama Street and Redlands Boulevard on Oct. 28. He has since been released on bail, police said.

No additional information was immediately available.
