Back To School: 2026-27 Banning Unified School District Calendar

BANNING, CA — Summer is winding down for Banning Unified School District families, with students slated to return to class for the 2026-27 school year on Tuesday, Aug. 6.

The district serves students in Banning, Cabazon and surrounding Pass Area communities.

Here are key dates and bell times families should know before the new school year begins.

Banning Unified First Day

The first day of school for Banning Unified students is Thursday, Aug. 6, 2026.

Banning Unified First Day Bell Times

Banning Unified posts bell schedules by individual school site, including Florida Street Discovery Center, Cabazon Elementary, Central Elementary, Hemmerling Elementary, Hoffer Elementary, Nicolet Middle School, Banning High School and New Horizon High School.

Families should check their student’s individual campus for regular day, minimum day, modified day, TK/kindergarten and special-program schedules.

Families should confirm bell times with their individual school, especially for TK, kindergarten, K-8 programs, middle schools, high schools, alternative schools, late-start Wednesdays, minimum days and special schedules.

Other Back-To-School Reminders

Banning Unified is hosting a districtwide Back-To-School Celebration from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 1, at the Banning High School gym.

The district has also opened applications for its Expanded Learning Program for the 2026-27 school year for families interested in before- or after-school programming.

Families should check with their student's campus for school supply lists, transportation details, minimum-day schedules, and any site-specific back-to-school events.
