Banning, Beaumont To Reach 90+ Degrees This Weekend, NWS Says

Get ready for a warming trend!

BANNING, CA — Building high pressure will push temperatures across Riverside County upward Friday through the weekend, taking us into the 90s in the San Gorgonio Pass area, forecasters say. The first significant heat wave of the year is expected to send high temperatures throughout Southern California 5 to 15 degrees above average this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

"The weather pattern through the upcoming weekend will feature abundant sunshine and much warmer conditions as a ridge of high pressure builds aloft from the Pacific," according to the weather service. "Above normal highs will continue for inland areas through early next week, with gradual cooling the latter half of next week."

In the valleys around Riverside, forecast highs of 84 to 89 degrees Friday will rise to 90 to 95 degrees Saturday and to 91 to 96 degrees Sunday. In the mountains, temperatures will increase from 72 to 78 degrees Friday to 78 to 85 degrees Saturday and 82 to 91 Sunday.

In the deserts, temperatures are expected to soar past the 100-degree mark.

    Sunny, with a high near 89. Light northeast wind becoming east 10 to 15 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.

    Sunny, with a high near 91. West wind 5 to 10 mph.
  • Sunday Night
    Mostly clear, with a low around 64. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
  • Monday
    Sunny, with a high near 91.
  • Monday Night
    Mostly clear, with a low around 65.
  • Tuesday
    Sunny, with a high near 88.
  • Tuesday Night
    Mostly clear, with a low around 61.
  • Wednesday
    Sunny, with a high near 86.
  • Wednesday Night
    Mostly clear, with a low around 60.

"The heat will really be building across the deserts with triple digit readings forecast for the Coachella Valley/San Diego deserts beginning on Saturday and continuing through early next week, at least," according to the weather service.

Highs predicted for the San Gorgonio Pass zone, which includes Banning and Desert Hot Springs, will increase from 88 to 93 degrees Friday to 95 to 100 degrees Saturday and 100 to 105 degrees Sunday. In the forecast for the Coachella Valley are highs of 89 to 94 degrees Friday, 97 to 102 degrees Saturday and 101 to 106 degrees Sunday.

Forecasters urged Riverside County residents to drink plenty of water, dress to accommodate hot weather, stay out of the sun between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., close their blinds during the day and open windows at night. Also, help kids, the elderly and pets beat the heat.
