Banning Man Tries to Strangle Woman, Police Say: Former Murder Suspect Arrested

Demario Jackson is accused of making threats against the woman's life.

BANNING, CA – A Banning man who once stood trial – but was acquitted – in a now-notorious Pass Area murder case is again behind bars, this time on felony assault charges, police report.

Demario Anton Jackson, 31, was arrested Friday on charges of making terrorist threats, inflicting injuries on a spouse/cohabitant and attempted murder with malice, jail booking records indicate. As of Monday, he remained locked up at the Banning jail without the possibility of bail.

Banning police report that on March 7, just before 10 a.m., they received an "abandoned" 911 call, with no response when they tried to call back.

Police later learned that Jackson had apparently threatened his life-in girlfriend and arrested him.

"Upon further investigation, it was learned that Jackson attempted to strangle his common law wife and made threats against her life," police added.

Jackson was acquitted in 2012 for the murder of Beaumont resident Andy Albarran. He had been charged with first-degree murder, along with sentence-enhancing gun and great bodily injury allegations, in the July 16, 2011, slaying outside a Beaumont nightclub.

Booking records indicate Jackson is due to face a judge for this current case on Tuesday.
