Barbara Sheahan of Banning is competing for the title ofĀ Ms. Senior California 2013 in the California Senior America Pageant, which will be staged atĀ 2 p.m.Ā Saturday Aug. 31 at the Rose Center Theater in Westminster, according to event organizers.
The theme of the pageant this yearĀ is "The Best is Yet To Come."
In addition to Sheahan, other women competingĀ in the pageant areĀ Sharon Curtis of Riverside,Ā Mary Nelson of Apple Valley, Marcia Zadian of Buena Park,Ā Wendy Hill of Encinitas,Ā SandraĀ Erkus ofĀ GranadaĀ Hills,Ā EstherĀ Kenyon of HawaiianĀ Gardens,Ā Alise Richel-Adler of Los Angeles, Gayla Jackson ofĀ Moorpark,Ā Suzanne Millhollen-Goodrich of Rancho Santa Margarita, Fabie Combs ofĀ Yorba Linda, Jenne Lenhart of San Diego,Ā Michele McDougal of San Diego, and Vernetta, who prefers to go by her first name only,Ā also of San Diego.
"Each contestant competing in this year's pageant either won a regional title or was first runner up in one of the seven preliminary pageants that were held around the State," organizers said.Ā "The Pageant is open to women who have reached the 'age of elegance' -Ā 60 years of age and up."
The winner of Ms. Senior California goes onĀ to compete - all expenses paid -Ā in the 2013 Ms. Senior America Pageant held Oct. 20 to Oct.Ā 25Ā in Atlanta City at Resorts International, according to organizers.
"Reigning Ms. Senior California, Elisabeth Howard from Topanga Canyon, went on to win Ms. Senior America at the 2012 Ms. Senior America Pageant," organizers said.
